‘Frustrated’ Prince Harry ‘wanted to quit royal family more than wife Meghan’
Prince Harry became increasingly ‘frustrated’ with royal life and was the principal driver of his family’s highly-publicised break with the royal family, it has been claimed. A new tell-all biography has revealed how Harry’s relationship with senior royals broke down following his marriage to Meghan Markle. But it was Harry, and not Meghan, who set the wheels in motion for their move to their wife’s hometown of Los Angeles, it is claimed.
The book, Finding Freedom by Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, has given a behind the scenes look at the couple’s bombshell decision to move to the US. According to the Telegraph, the book says that the Queen was genuinely “blindsided” when Harry and Meghan announced their decision on Instagram on January 8. One insider allegedly said: “Harry felt very constrained. He wanted to be able to speak to his grandmother and his father but constantly found aides blocking his path. It was so frustrating for him.
“He would get so frustrated when he was told he couldn’t do something,” one insider reveals in the book. “The palace approach would always be – how did we do it last time? He wanted to do things differently and I think Meghan was the catalyst for him but also gave him the confidence which he lacked to change things.” Today it was claimed the biography – which will be officially released next month – will ‘plunge relations with the royal family to an all-time low’ as they attempt to ‘settle scores’. A source said they were expecting a ‘revisionist’ version of events regarding the couple’s engagement. The authors have been described as supporters of the couple and claim their book has been written with the participation of sources close to Meghan and Harry. There have even been reports that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex spoke personally to the authors – though this has not been confirmed.
The Daily Mail’s royal editor says the book is set to ‘plunge relations with the royal family to an all-time low’. A source told the Daily Mail: “It’s going to be the gospel according to Meghan and Harry, so to speak. “Everything that has happened in terms of Megxit will be seen through the prism of their take on events. “What it’s unlikely to reveal, however, is how it subsequently emerged that Harry and Meghan had been quietly plotting their ‘exit’ from the Royal Family for at least nine months before they finally announced their decision to quit in January this year.”
